Biomedist Reinaldo Bockor quits MasterChef Brazil after brown spider bite

Reinaldo Bockor, a 47‑year‑old biomedist and contestant on the 13th season of MasterChef Brazil, was bitten on his foot by a brown spider (Loxosceles) during the repêchage stage of the competition. He reported severe pain, swelling and the risk of losing a toe, and sent photos of the wound to his doctor.

Because the injury made it impossible to continue, Bockor deliberately plated a dish incorrectly to be eliminated. He left the show, returned to Santa Catarina for medical care and spent about 30 days with his foot elevated. The case underscores the health risks of brown‑spider bites, which can cause necrosis and systemic symptoms.
