BioNTech works council criticizes management over workplace culture
The works council at BioNTech has issued an open letter to the company’s management, criticizing the leadership’s conduct during a period of corporate transformation. According to the letter, which was obtained by the Deutsche Presse-Agentur, employees have reported instances of sexism, racism, discrimination, and threats.
The works council also highlighted “toxic workplace situations” and expressed concerns that staff feel abandoned regarding their job security. This anxiety is reportedly linked to ongoing restructuring efforts and the announced closure of several production sites. Employees have also noted a perceived standstill in decision-making processes within certain departments.
BioNTech stated that it takes these allegations very seriously and is seeking a dialogue with employee representatives to distinguish rumors from established facts. The company emphasized that it does not tolerate retaliation against whistleblowers, nor does it tolerate discrimination, sexism, racism, or threats. Despite the internal friction, BioNTech maintained that there is no standstill in its operational business.
