BioTank Africa launches nationwide training for Kenyan artisans

BioTank Africa has launched a nationwide training initiative to upskill construction tradespeople in Kenya, beginning with a large-scale event in Kitengela, Kajiado County. During the event, over 400 local artisans, including plumbers, contractors, and fundis, received official National Construction Authority (NCA) technical certification.

The program focuses on modern, sustainable biodigester and wastewater technology. This initiative addresses a critical infrastructure gap in Kenya, where Water Services Regulatory Board data indicates that only approximately 9 percent of the population is connected to municipal sewer networks. Consequently, the majority of the country relies on onsite sanitation solutions.

Edwin Kirugo, Founder and General Manager at BioTank Africa, stated that the county-by-county rollout aims to bring technical training directly to areas experiencing rapid construction. The company intends to use these accredited artisans to ensure installations meet public health and quality standards as it expands its distributor network across the country.
