Biotech firms Grail and CRISPR Therapeutics see regulatory developments

Grail saw its stock rise 15.8% in August following news that the FDA has scheduled a key meeting regarding its Galleri multi-cancer early detection test. The company is working to demonstrate the cost-benefit of the test to medical insurers to encourage widespread adoption. While a previous trial with England's National Health Service failed to meet its primary endpoint for reducing late-stage cancer incidence, management has highlighted favorable trends in specific deadly cancer types.

Separately, CRISPR Therapeutics has transitioned to a commercial stage following the FDA approval of CASGEVY. This milestone validates the company's CRISPR/Cas9 platform. While the company maintains a strong cash position and a pipeline targeting cardiovascular and oncology markets, many of its assets remain in early development stages.
