A biplane crash in the Var region of France resulted in the deaths of two people on Sunday, September 13. The aircraft took off from the Cuers airfield and crashed in the commune of La Londe-les-Maures.
The pilot was identified as Patrick Féron, a retired Air Force general, former fighter pilot, and former head of Air Force flight safety. He served as the vice-president of the association ‘Les Ailes de la Reconnaissance’, which provides flight experiences to healthcare workers, firefighters, and paramedics.
The passenger, a midwife manager from the Fréjus-Saint-Raphaël Hospital Center, was killed in the accident. The flight was reportedly part of a tribute to healthcare professionals. An investigation has been launched by the Nice air transport gendarmerie brigade to determine the cause of the crash.
