Bird & Bird expands London expertise with new IP and legal tech partners
International law firm Bird & Bird has announced two significant partner appointments in its London office to bolster its intellectual property and legal technology capabilities.
Huw Edwards has joined the firm as a partner in the London Intellectual Property team. A veteran tech patent litigator with over 20 years of experience, Edwards previously led litigation operations at Nokia. His expertise focuses on complex, multi-jurisdictional patent disputes, particularly regarding standard essential patents (SEP) across sectors such as telecommunications, electronics, and life sciences.
Additionally, the firm has appointed Shahin Baghaei as a partner to lead its legal transformation efforts. Baghaei joins from EY, bringing a four-person team including Dale Carden, Carl Newman, and Carolyn Guha. The group will focus on integrating AI and other legal technologies into the firm’s service delivery to create more efficient, scalable, and technology-enabled solutions for clients.
