Bird Certification Test scheduled for February 2027 in Japan
The inaugural Bird Certification Test (Torikentei) is scheduled to take place on February 14, 2027. Organized by the Bird Certification Executive Committee and Nippan Segmo Co., Ltd., the exam will be held at physical venues in Tokyo and Osaka, as well as online for participants nationwide.
The certification offers two levels: Beginner (Friend) and Intermediate (Master). The exam covers a wide range of topics, including bird ecology, anatomy, behavior, mating, and parenting. To support candidates, Nihon Bungeisha will release the official study guide, ‘Bird Certification Official Guidebook: Bird Textbook’, on September 30, 2026. This text will serve as the primary basis for the exam questions.
Registration is currently open, with early bird discounts and special campaign benefits available for those who apply by November 30, 2026. The initiative aims to deepen public interest in birds, ranging from common species like sparrows to rare exotic birds and companion birds.
