Birecik hosts Kelaynak, Eggplant, and Pistachio Festival

The Birecik Kelaynak, Eggplant, and Pistachio Festival has commenced in Birecik, organized through a collaboration between the Birecik District Governor's Office and the Birecik Municipality. The three-day event aims to promote the district's cultural heritage, gastronomy, and agricultural assets.

Key highlights of the festival include the celebration of the local kelaynak birds and the harvesting of Birecik eggplant and pistachios, both of which hold geographical indication status. During the opening ceremony, local officials, including District Governor Osman Şahin and Mayor Mehmet Begit, participated in the eggplant harvest alongside citizens.

Officials noted that the festival serves as a vital platform to increase the visibility of Birecik's unique regional products and its status as a significant gastronomy destination.
