Bireuen police arrest suspect in Rp1 billion school theft series

Police in Bireuen have arrested a 29-year-old man, identified as AM, for a series of thefts targeting school assets. The suspect is accused of breaking into at least 10 schools between March and August 2026.

Using tools such as crowbars and screwdrivers to force open doors and windows, the suspect stole various electronic items, including laptops, computers, projectors, printers, and tablets. The total estimated loss from these thefts is approximately Rp1 billion. Authorities seized several pieces of evidence, including the stolen electronics and suspected narcotics.
