Birhanu Balew wins 5000m in Brussels with world-leading time

At the Diamond League meeting in Brussels, Birhanu Balew of Bahrain secured victory in the men’s 5000m with a world-leading time of 12:45.70. The race featured high-level competition, with Burundi’s Egide Ntakarutimana finishing second to set a new national record of 12:46.73. Kenya’s Cornelius Kemboi took third place, recording a personal best of 12:47.29.

In the men’s 200m, American sprinter Kenny Bednarek matched his recent performance in Zurich, winning with a time of 19.62 seconds. This mark represents the best time in the world this year and earned Bednarek his third Diamond Trophy. Sinesipho Dambile finished second in 19.89, followed by Makanakaishe Charamba in third.
