Birigui: Toddler killed in hit-and-run involving silver sedan

A 1-year-old boy, Guilherme Correa Lima, died after being struck by a vehicle in front of his family home in Birigui, São Paulo, on Saturday. The incident occurred while the child's father was briefly engaged in a conversation with an acquaintance who had arrived in a silver sedan.

Following the collision, the driver initially fled the scene. However, a 35-year-old man later presented himself to the Civil Police accompanied by lawyers. His defense claims he did not realize he had struck the child and only learned of the accident through third parties.

The case has been registered as involuntary manslaughter and fleeing the scene of an accident. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances of the crash, using security camera footage and forensic evidence to clarify the dynamics of the event.
