Birmingham boy's heart revived after serious crash
Paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service restarted the heart of a nine‑year‑old boy after a two‑car collision at the junction of Sisefield Road and Primrose Hill in Kings Norton, Birmingham, on 29 July 2026 around 6 pm. An off‑duty nurse and police officers performed CPR on the child before the ambulance crew arrived.
A spokesperson for the service said: "When ambulance staff arrived, they found an off‑duty nurse and police colleagues performing CPR on a boy… The team of ambulance staff quickly took over resuscitation efforts to administer advanced life support which successfully restarted his heart." The boy was then conveyed by land ambulance to Birmingham Children’s Hospital in critical condition. West Midlands Police arrested a man and a woman at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
