Birmingham City FC targets Premier League promotion

Birmingham City FC is targeting promotion to the Premier League following a 10th-place finish in the Championship last season. After winning the 2024-25 League One title, the club is focused on establishing a firm base for top-flight competition.

Under the full control of U.S.-based Knighthead Capital Management, the club is pursuing significant infrastructure developments, including plans for a new 62,000-seat stadium and a multi-billion-pound ‘sports quarter’ district. The ownership group, co-founded by Tom Wagner, also includes NFL star Tom Brady as a minority owner.

Club chief executive Jeremy Dale stated that the organization is aligned on its ambitious goals. The Championship promotion structure has also changed this season, with the playoff spots expanding from four to six teams.
