Birmingham City Pre‑Season Training and Transfer Plans Focus on Speed, Strength and Set‑Piece Innovation

Birmingham City wrapped up its final pre‑season training session in Lagos, Portugal, ahead of the friendly against Huddersfield Town. Coach Chris Davies ran a one‑hour session with most players, while striker Marvin Ducksch and midfielder Ethan Laird missed out due to injuries. New signings Dael Fry and forward Jay Stansfield also sat out, and younger squad members filled the ranks. Security removed an unauthorised onlooker, and new set‑piece coach Scott Fry oversaw drills, describing the work as “absolute chaos” in an effort to boost the team's dead‑ball threat.

Separately, Davies outlined the club’s transfer criteria for the summer window, emphasizing the need for “speed, strength, size and power.” The Blues have already added centre‑back Dael Fry and defender Jhon Solis, and are still hunting a goalkeeper and additional midfield and attacking options. The manager noted that the World Cup has slowed the market but stressed the importance of entering each window stronger than before.
