Birmingham hosts 23rd annual Taste of 4th Avenue Jazz Festival

The 23rd annual Taste of 4th Avenue Jazz Festival took place in Birmingham’s Historic Fourth Avenue Business District, drawing crowds of music lovers, families, and dancers.

Established in 2003, the festival is a collaborative effort between Urban Impact Inc. and the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame. The event aims to preserve the legacy of the historic Black business district while fostering community through music. Performances included the Birmingham Youth Choir, flutist Sherry Reeves, and smooth jazz artist Adam Hawley, concluding with a performance by Alvin Garrett.

Organizers noted that the festival's growing attendance reflects the community's connection to the district, which historically served as a hub for Black professionals, including doctors and lawyers.
