The Housing Authority of the Birmingham District (HABD) unveiled the newly renovated Villas Early Learning Center in Titusville, Alabama. The renovation, part of the redevelopment of the former Loveman Village, created a modern, safe facility of more than 7,000 square feet to support early childhood education, wellness, and development. Funding for the project included $1 million from U.S. Congresswoman Terri Sewell and $600,000 from City Councilor Crystal Smitherman.

The upgraded center features five spacious classrooms, each with a private restroom, automatic light sensors, high‑efficiency HVAC, and modern educational technology such as whiteboards and audio‑visual equipment. HABD President and CEO Dontrelle Young Foster and Mayor Randall Woodfin attended the ribbon‑cutting ceremony.

Separately, the City of Birmingham Community House Foundation board decided to lease the Early Childhood Center space to Birmingham Public Schools, which will manage the educational program. Specific lease terms have not yet been finalized, but the school district is expected to resume operations by the fall.
