Birmingham men jailed for abduction and sexual assault of 11-year-old
Two men have been sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court for the abduction and sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl who had run away from home. Sadak Ali, 28, received a seven-year prison sentence and was ordered to register as a sex offender for life. Hamza Sharif, 36, was sentenced to five years for child abduction.
The incident occurred after the victim encountered Sharif near a railway station in east Birmingham. Sharif led the girl to a house where she was isolated. During the ordeal, the men offered the child cocaine, which she declined. Ali was convicted of assault by touching the child, following invasive sexual questioning.
In a victim personal statement, the girl stated that the experience “changed me forever,” noting that she suffers from nightmares, flashbacks, and a loss of trust in adults. While defense barristers cited personal traumas and drug use as contributing factors, Judge Roderick Henderson rejected claims of benevolent motivation, identifying Sharif as the “driving force” behind the abduction.
