Birmingham Royal Ballet launches Swan Lake revival and new ticket discounts

The Birmingham Royal Ballet (BRB) announced a revival of Sir Peter Wright's production of Swan Lake at the Birmingham Hippodrome. Performances run from 23 September to 3 October, with a subsequent run at London’s Sadler’s Wells Theatre from 28 to 31 October. Principal casting includes Céline Gittens, Momoko Hirata, Yu Kurihara, Miki Mizutani, Beatrice Parma and Yaoqian Shang sharing the roles of Odette/Odile, and Enrique Bejarano Vidal, Tzu‑Chao Chou, Mathias Dingman, Yasiel Hodelín Bello, Mason King, Max Maslen and Lachlan Monaghan sharing Prince Siegfried. BRB director Carlos Acosta said the production celebrates 100 years of Sir Peter Wright’s contributions.

BRR also introduced a standby ticket scheme offering seats as low as £10 for full‑time students, Birmingham residents with a Passport to Leisure Card, or those living in postcodes B6, B9, B10, B11 and B21. Tickets can be claimed up to 24 hours before a performance by phone or in person, with proof of eligibility such as an NUS card or Passport to Leisure card.

Principal Guest Conductor Thomas Jung, based in Germany, highlighted the importance of the Royal Ballet Sinfonia, BRB’s resident orchestra, in delivering the company’s artistic voice and supporting dancers in real time.
