Birmingham to Host 2026 European Athletics Championships

The 27th European Athletics Championships will take place from 10 to 16 August 2026 at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham, United Kingdom. The event will be broadcast live in the Czech Republic on ČT Sport, with online streams available for free. The Czech delegation includes top athletes such as javelin thrower Jakub Vadlejch, shot‑putter Tomáš Staněk, sprinter Karolína Maňasová and emerging middle‑distance runners Lurdes Gloria Manuel and Jakub Dudycha, among others across a full roster of track and field events.

Poland is also preparing a strong team, highlighted by high‑jumpers who have recently posted world‑class marks. Sebastian Moszczyński secured a personal best of 2.16 m, while Mateusz Kołodziejski and Norbert Kobielski have cleared 2.12 m, positioning them as medal contenders. The Polish high‑jumpers will begin their competition in the Tuesday morning qualifiers, with the final scheduled for Friday evening.

Both nations view the Birmingham championships as a key opportunity to improve on past European performances and to challenge for medals on the continental stage.
