Vietnam's Phu Luong Hospital Oversees Birth on Motorcycle
A 25‑year‑old woman, about 32 weeks pregnant, was rushed to Phu Luong Hospital in Thai Nguyen Province, Vietnam, after severe abdominal pain began. While her husband rode a motorcycle toward the hospital, she went into labour and delivered a baby on the bike’s rear seat just before reaching the entrance. The newborn, a boy weighing roughly 2 kg, was still attached to the mother by the umbilical cord, which staff cut after moving the mother and child onto a stretcher.
Medical personnel at the hospital quickly provided warmth, a Hepatitis B vaccination for the infant, and further examinations. Both mother and baby were reported to be in stable condition and remained under observation. The dramatic moment was captured on video, which spread widely on social media, drawing praise for the rapid response of the hospital staff.
