Bisceglie promotes cultural heritage through education and local events
The city of Bisceglie is engaging in several initiatives to promote local cultural heritage and education. The Rotary Club Bisceglie has launched ‘Conosci... Amo Bisceglie’, an educational project designed to transform the city into an open-air classroom. The initiative features a 24-page didactic album that uses engaging language and activities to teach fourth-grade primary school students about local history, monuments, and traditions, ranging from the Dolmen to historic churches.
In addition to cultural literacy, the Rotary Club is providing educational materials to students facing economic and social fragility to support equal opportunities.
Separately, Bisceglie celebrated the European Heritage Days, organized by the Archeoclub d’Italia and the Club per l’UNESCO di Bisceglie. The event included a heritage walk and a visit to the ‘Maestra’ Tower and the ‘Francesco Prelorenzo’ Ethnographic Museum. The celebrations emphasized the importance of the Faro Convention, which recognizes cultural heritage as a tool to improve lives and build democratic societies by encouraging citizen participation in cultural management.
