Bischofshofen: 17-year-old found after search following alcohol-related crash
A 17-year-old driver triggered a large-scale search operation in Austria after a car accident on the B311 highway between St. Johann im Pongau and Bischofshofen. The driver, who was operating under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol level of 0.9 per mille, lost control of the vehicle due to excessive speed and struck an embankment.
Following the crash, the teenager disappeared from the scene, prompting a two-hour search involving the fire department, water rescue teams, and drones. Search efforts focused on the riverbanks and the Salzach river area, extending toward Pfarrwerfen. The young man was eventually located approximately two kilometers from the accident site in the Bischofshofen area. He and two other passengers, both of similar age, received medical treatment from the Red Cross before being transported to a hospital.
