Biserka Gramatikova, prominent music educator, passes away

Biserka Gramatikova, a distinguished music educator, musicologist, local historian, and critic from Burgas, has passed away. She spent much of her career teaching at the National School of Music and Performing Arts ‘Prof. Pancho Vladigerov’, where she influenced generations of young musicians.

Gramatikova was a dedicated guardian of Burgas’s musical traditions and cultural memory. In 2023, she received a plaque from the Burgas Municipality for her contributions to culture and service to society. Her accolades also include the ‘Crystal Necklace’, the highest distinction from the Union of Bulgarian Musicians and Dancers.

To honor her 80th anniversary in 2026, the Burgas Municipality organized a special event titled ‘Burgas Musical Awakener’, featuring a round table discussion, a presentation of her bibliography, and a concert by the Ars Musica ensemble.
