Bishkek, Hurghada, and Malmö emerge as top trending travel destinations for 2027

Skyscanner has identified several rising travel destinations for 2027 based on significant year-on-year increases in return flight searches. Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, leads the list with a 501 percent surge in searches, potentially influenced by its appearance on the television series ‘Race Across the World’.

Other notable trending locations include Hurghada, Egypt, which saw a 186 percent increase in interest due to its Red Sea reefs, and Malmö, Sweden, which experienced a 103 percent rise in searches.

Complementary travel rankings also highlight Sweden's appeal. Time Out ranked Gothenburg as the top European destination for ‘coolcations’—vacations focused on cooler summer climates—followed by Stockholm. Additionally, Condé Nast Traveler ranked Sweden 19th among the world's best countries, and Lonely Planet included Skanör-Falsterbo in its ‘Best in Travel 2027’ selection.
