Bishop Bertram Meier appoints new deans for Augsburg region

Bishop Bertram Meier has appointed Dr. Florian Kolbinger and Dr. Markus Schrom as new deans for the Augsburg region. The appointments, which officially began on November 1, 2026, carry an initial term of six years.

Dr. Florian Kolbinger will lead the Augsburg-Land deanery. Previously the pastor of the Dinkelscherben parish community, Kolbinger is a theologian who also serves as a lecturer for fundamental theology at the University of Augsburg.

Dr. Markus Schrom has been appointed to lead the Schwabmünchen deanery. Schrom, the leading pastor of the Fischach parish community, has served as prodekan in the Schwabmünchen deanery since 2022.

Bishop Meier described the role of dean as an essential link between local parishes and the diocesan leadership. Vicar General Dr. Wolfgang Hacker also requested support from parishioners and pastoral staff for the new appointees.
