Bishop Helmut Dieser warns of rising natural disaster threats

Bishop Helmut Dieser of Aachen visited the site of the Hürtgenwald forest fire, which covered approximately 300 hectares and was noted as the largest forest fire in North Rhine-Westphalia in recent official records. While the fire is now under control, the Bishop highlighted that the threat of natural disasters, including floods, droughts, and storms, is increasing due to climate change.

During his visit, Dieser praised the professional and coordinated response of emergency services, noting that the high level of cooperation prevented chaos. He urged the public to be more conscious of environmental dangers and to follow safety advice, such as avoiding forests during extreme dry conditions.
