Bishop Kawas alleges terrorism sponsorship to blackmail Tinubu

Archbishop Leonard Bature Kawas, President-General of the Charismatic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria, has alleged that certain individuals are sponsoring terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping to discredit President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Kawas claimed that international intelligence suggests these security issues are being exploited to blackmail and blacklist the President. He compared these alleged efforts to similar tactics used to portray former President Goodluck Jonathan negatively during his tenure.

Kawas also defended the bishops’ recent endorsement of Tinubu for a second term, asserting that the decision was not financially motivated. He emphasized that the religious leaders received no monetary compensation for their support, stating, “Today, this endorsement has not given us any one naira.”
