Bishop Maciej Małyga reflects on human dignity and friendship

Bishop Maciej Małyga, auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Wrocław, shared reflections on human dignity and the importance of companionship following a personal medical experience. After undergoing a minor procedure on both legs, the bishop spent a week using a wheelchair, which provided him with a new perspective on the physical obstacles faced by those with limited mobility.

In his homily, Małyga emphasized that individuals suffering from hardship do not primarily seek pity, but rather the presence of a friend. He noted that while pity can create distance between the helper and the person in need, true friendship involves being present and helping out of genuine care. His message focused on the inherent dignity of every person and the importance of shared burdens and trust in God.
