Bishop Michael Router to be installed in Derry Diocese

Bishop Michael Router is scheduled to be installed as the new Bishop of Derry on Sunday, September 20, at Saint Eugene's Cathedral. The installation ceremony is set to begin at 3:00 pm and will be livestreamed via the cathedral's webcam.

Bishop Router, who previously served as the Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Armagh, was nominated for the position by Pope Leo XIV following the resignation of Bishop Donal McKeown. Because Router is already a bishop, the ceremony will be an installation rather than an ordination.

The Diocese of Derry serves a Catholic population of approximately 250,000 people. Its jurisdiction covers nearly all of County Derry, portions of Counties Donegal and Tyrone, and a small area in County Antrim.
