Bishop of Piazza Armerina faces perjury charges in Italy
The Enna Prosecutor's Office has requested two-year prison sentences for the Bishop of Piazza Armerina, Rosario Gisana, and judicial vicar Vincenzo Murgano. The prosecutors are charging both men with perjury.
According to the prosecution, the two individuals provided false testimony regarding significant circumstances in the legal proceedings that led to the definitive conviction of priest Giuseppe Rugolo for sexual violence against minors. The trial, conducted under a summary procedure, is expected to reach a verdict on December 11.
