Bishop Sylvester of Jinja visits Metropolis of Larissa

Bishop Sylvester of Jinja and Eastern Uganda visited the Holy Metropolis of Larissa and Tyrnavos to highlight the strong ties between the local Greek Church and foreign missionary efforts.

During a service at the Agioi Panton Monastery, the Bishop expressed gratitude to Metropolitan Hieronymos of Larissa and Tyrnavos and Abbot Dorotheos for their hospitality. He specifically noted the success of the ‘Larissian village,’ a missionary center established in the African jungle. Bishop Sylvester emphasized that material and spiritual support from Greece is vital for missionaries working on the front lines.

Key updates from the Bishop included the completion of the foundation for the Saint Paisios Primary School building and the upcoming start of reconstruction work. He also reported that over 50 indigenous people were baptized during the summer with the assistance of Larissian sponsors. Following the service, the Bishop met with representatives from the missionary association ‘Poria Agapis’ and various donors to discuss ongoing projects in his diocese.
