Bishop Testore denies merger of Alessandria and Acqui dioceses

Monsignor Luigi Testore, Bishop of Acqui, has clarified that the Dioceses of Alessandria and Acqui will remain two distinct entities. Following rumors regarding a potential unification, Testore stated that there is no intention to merge the two dioceses and that they will likely continue to have two separate bishops.

Testore has been appointed by the Holy See as the Apostolic Administrator for the Diocese of Alessandria. He described this as a transitional role intended to ensure pastoral care and ordinary governance until a new bishop is appointed. His comments aim to reassure the faithful in both communities.

Additionally, the Diocese of Alessandria has announced several upcoming events, including a series of meetings regarding 'Amoris Laetitia' starting September 24, and various commemorations related to the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis.
