Bistrița: Fire at STERN company building evacuates 12 people

A fire broke out at a mixed-use building belonging to the STERN company on the bypass road of Bistrița, Romania. The building houses office spaces on the ground floor and accommodation for foreign workers on the upper floor.

The fire originated in one of the worker accommodation rooms, caused by a cooking appliance igniting nearby combustible materials. For safety reasons, the entire building was evacuated, including 12 foreign workers.

Eight individuals were medically evaluated by the SMURD Bistrița mobile intensive care team. Among those treated was the property owner, who entered the affected room and is suspected of having airway burns. Additionally, two residents experienced panic attacks and minor burns. Although the fire was partially addressed by people on-site before firefighters arrived, emergency crews deployed multiple specialized vehicles to secure the area and identify hidden hotspots.
