Bistrița Mayor Gabriel Lazany Plans City‑run Waste Service and Blue Line Mobility Corridor

Mayor Gabriel Lazany said the Bistrița City Hall will become the operator of street waste collection and snow removal after purchasing new equipment. He explained that if the private contractor Supercom does not accept a service contract, the municipality will establish its own waste‑management company.

The city also signed a design contract for the EU‑funded “Blue Line” sustainable mobility corridor along the Bistrița River. The 10‑kilometre project will include about 2.5 km of new bike lanes, 57,000 m² of river‑bank promenade, and several new bridges and foot‑bridges to better connect the city’s neighborhoods. The design phase is expected to last up to five months, after which procurement for construction will begin.
