Bistrița-Năsăud authorities remove 31,000 livestock from national database

Authorities in Bistrița-Năsăud have removed over 31,000 sheep and goats from the National Database (BND) after inspections revealed the animals were missing from their registered farms. The missing livestock includes 30,097 sheep and 1,812 goats.

According to the Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Directorate (DSVSA) of Bistrița-Năsăud, the removal aims to prevent the unjustified granting of subsidies. The missing sheep represent approximately 8.5% of the county's previously declared flock. Owners were unable to justify the destination of the animals, and in some cases, including those owned by authorized natural persons (PFA), owners failed to request necessary sanitary-veterinary documents.

Control teams, established by order of the County Prefect, included representatives from the Police, Gendarmerie, and the County Administration of Public Finance. Information regarding the missing animals from commercial entities and authorized individuals has been forwarded to the Public Finance Administration and APIA for further investigation and potential audits.
