Bistrița-Năsăud County Council faces audit findings of million-lei accounting errors

An audit by the Court of Accounts has revealed significant accounting errors and administrative irregularities within the Bistrița-Năsăud County Council, involving tens of millions of lei.

The official report, based on financial documents from late 2025, highlights several major discrepancies. One of the most notable errors involves the management of school minibuses acquired through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) for the ‘Sustainable Transport for Students in Bistrița-Năsăud County’ project. While the vehicles, valued at nearly 35 million lei, were transferred to local town halls, they remained incorrectly listed in the County Council’s inventory.

Additional findings include unupdated building values, illegal payments for repairs on communal land, and irregularities concerning the County Hospital and the Gloria Sports Club.
