Bistriški climbing festival raises funds for mountain rescuers
The Bistriški climbing festival, held on August 21 and 22, 2026, at the Slovenska Bistrica Climbing Center, significantly exceeded its goals. Organized by the Alpinistični klub Impol Slovenska Bistrica, the event brought together over 150 climbers.
While the central challenge aimed for a collective 1,200 meters of climbing—symbolizing the height of the North Triglav Wall—participants climbed a total of 25,573 meters. Notable individual achievements included Živa Frešer, who independently reached the 1,200-meter mark by climbing over 70 routes.
Beyond the athletic competition, the festival served a charitable purpose. Through contributions from participants, visitors, sponsors, and donors, more than 4,300 euros were raised for the Mountain Rescue Association of Slovenia.
