Biswa Bangla Gate hanging restaurant fire in West Bengal

A fire broke out at the hanging restaurant located at Biswa Bangla Gate in New Town, West Bengal, on the evening of Vijaya Dashami. The incident occurred around 6:30 PM while approximately 50 to 60 guests were dining at the establishment.

Emergency responders, including fire tenders and a large police contingent, arrived quickly to manage the situation. As embers fell onto the road below, police halted traffic on the main arterial road beneath the structure as a precaution. All guests and staff were successfully evacuated without casualties.

Bidhannagar Police Commissioner Rathod Amitkumar Bharat inspected the site and confirmed the fire was brought under control through the joint efforts of the fire department and police. Officials from the fire department and the Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) are investigating whether the cause was a kitchen incident or a short circuit. A comprehensive safety audit of the entire structure has been ordered.
