Bitcoin and Gold: Experts Clash Over Future Market Returns
Financial experts hold opposing views on the future of Bitcoin and gold. Bitwise CIO Matt Hougan argues that various economic scenarios, including an AI-driven productivity boom or an AI-related bust, will ultimately support Bitcoin. Hougan suggests that even in a bust scenario involving defaults and falling growth, central bank interventions and rate cuts would likely drive a recovery for the asset.
Conversely, Euro Pacific Capital CEO Peter Schiff warns that Bitcoin is at risk of a significant market correction. Schiff cites rising inflation, increasing bond yields, and US political shifts as factors that could cause the asset to be ‘clobbered.’ He advises investors to pivot toward gold, asserting that gold has a superior potential for a tenfold return over the next five years compared to Bitcoin.
