Bitcoin and Solana outperform Ethereum in DCA returns since 2022

Data from CryptoRank reveals that the dollar-cost averaging (DCA) strategy yielded significantly different results for various cryptocurrencies between January 2022 and August 2026. While investors in Ethereum and Cardano saw losses of 12.5% and 53.3% respectively, other assets saw substantial gains. Tron (TRX) recorded a 195% return, while Bitcoin, XRP, and Solana all produced gains exceeding 40%.

The performance was heavily influenced by a 2024 rally driven by increased institutional access, including the SEC's approval of spot Bitcoin and Ethereum exchange-traded products. Market momentum further accelerated following the election of Donald Trump, who campaigned on establishing the United States as a global crypto hub. His administration subsequently moved toward creating a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and signing the GENIUS Act to provide a federal regulatory framework for payment stablecoins.
