Bitcoin climbs above $66,000 on ETF inflows and regulatory optimism

Bitcoin held above $64,000 throughout the week and surged past $66,000, reaching a peak of $66,284. The rally was underpinned by more than $600 million of inflows into U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs over five days, marking the strongest institutional buying stretch since mid‑July.

Analysts noted that a recent July 17 options expiry of roughly $1.2 billion in Bitcoin contracts had limited impact; the true drivers were renewed demand from institutional investors and large‑scale accumulation by whales. At the same time, progress on U.S. cryptocurrency legislation added optimism: Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said lawmakers were close to voting on the CLARITY Act, which would clarify SEC versus CFTC oversight, and the White House agreed to an ethics provision in the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, easing a major political hurdle.

The broader market context included a risk‑off wave in Asian semiconductor stocks and a modest recovery in AI‑linked equities, which together helped shape sentiment toward risk assets such as Bitcoin.
