Bitcoin Cash sees technical growth amid security concerns
The Bitcoin Cash ecosystem is experiencing a divergence between technical development and market performance. While the price of BCH faces downward pressure within a multi-year descending triangle, the community is actively advancing several technical initiatives.
Recent developments include AI-assisted security audits for secret storage and smart contract signing, as well as the introduction of a post-quantum safe proof verifier on chipnet. Additionally, work continues on the XO stack to support payments and smart contract applications on a UTXO-based chain. Ecosystem activity remains high with participation in Cash 3.0 and new node additions via Start9.
However, security concerns have been raised regarding the HandCash wallet. Critics point out that its $handle system relies on centralized servers to map usernames to addresses, creating a potential single point of failure and reintroducing third-party trust into a decentralized system. Furthermore, the lack of a checksum in the $handle format increases the risk of user error during manual entry, and the wallet's closed-source nature has drawn scrutiny from security-conscious users.
