Bitcoin integration expands through corporate treasuries and brokerage services
The landscape of digital asset integration into mainstream finance is evolving through corporate treasury strategies, expanded brokerage services, and shifting market structures.
MicroStrategy founder Michael Saylor suggests Bitcoin has entered the beginning of a bull market, driven by favorable regulations and banking adoption. He views Bitcoin as a scarce digital capital asset that could see long-term growth. Simultaneously, market analysts suggest the traditional four-year halving cycle is being replaced by a long-term supercycle as crypto becomes embedded in global financial systems.
On the institutional side, Charles Schwab has expanded its ‘Schwab Crypto’ service, allowing retail investors to trade Bitcoin and Ethereum, with plans to add Solana, Avalanche, and Chainlink by year-end. In Brazil, OranyeBTC is working to bridge the gap between high retail adoption and low institutional participation by offering Bitcoin-based capital market products, including an ETF targeting local investors seeking diversification.
Data on corporate Bitcoin holdings shows mixed results. Among 90 companies with disclosed average purchase prices, 58 are currently holding Bitcoin at a loss relative to recent prices. However, the largest holder, MicroStrategy, maintains a profit with an average purchase price of $76,082, while companies like Tesla and SpaceX report significant unrealized gains.
