Bitcoin Japan raises $60 million, allocates $4.5 million to first Bitcoin treasury

Bitcoin Japan, the Tokyo Stock Exchange‑listed firm formerly known as Horita Marusho, announced a fundraising of approximately ¥9.66 billion (about $60 million) through unsecured convertible bonds worth ¥1.5 billion and a second tranche of warrants issued to Cayman‑registered EVO FUND. Of the total capital, the company will earmark ¥662 million (roughly $4.5 million), or 7 %, for its inaugural Bitcoin treasury allocation. The remaining proceeds are slated for private‑equity investments (~¥3.76 billion), a rare‑earth mining project in South Africa (~¥3.50 billion), expansion of its Robot‑as‑a‑Service business (~¥1.45 billion), and general working capital (~¥290 million). The financing follows an earlier, unsuccessful attempt to fund a Bitcoin treasury due to insufficient capital. While the company has yet to acquire any Bitcoin, the new funds position it to commence purchases when market conditions are deemed favorable.
