Bitcoin ownership in US adults surpasses gold holders
A report from River Financial indicates that Bitcoin ownership among American adults has surpassed gold ownership. According to the data, approximately 49.6 million U.S. adults hold Bitcoin, representing an 18.6% adoption rate, compared to 28.8 million gold holders, or 10.8% of the adult population.
This shift is attributed to increased accessibility through mobile apps, exchanges, and the introduction of spot Bitcoin ETFs, alongside a favorable regulatory environment. The report notes that Bitcoin adoption rose from 14.3% to 18.6% within a six-month period.
The United States maintains a dominant position in the global cryptocurrency market, with Americans holding roughly 42% of the world's circulating Bitcoin. Furthermore, U.S.-based listed companies hold 1.24 million Bitcoin, accounting for 92.7% of the total Bitcoin held by listed companies globally, while the U.S. government holds over 328,000 BTC.
