Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong targets $400,000 Bitcoin by 2030
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong has identified $400,000 as a ‘reasonable target’ for Bitcoin by the end of 2030. Armstrong believes the cryptocurrency has already reached the bottom of its current market cycle and anticipates a bullish trend over the next one to two years, driven by historical four-year market cycles and upcoming halving events.
To reach the $400,000 milestone from current levels near $77,000, Bitcoin would require a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 51% over the next four years. Armstrong cites several potential catalysts for such growth, including newfound regulatory clarity through legislation like the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act and the mainstream adoption of the ‘digital gold’ investment thesis as a hedge against government spending and debt.
Beyond Bitcoin's price, Armstrong highlighted emerging sectors for growth through 2027, including stablecoin payments, tokenization, prediction markets, and agentic finance. He noted that Coinbase’s Layer 2 network, Base, has seen significant growth in stablecoin transaction volume, and predicted the stablecoin market could reach $3 trillion by 2030.
