Gold prices hold steady ahead of Fed decision amid West Asia tensions

Gold prices stayed roughly flat on July 29, 2026, with spot gold trading around USD 4,030 per ounce and the Indian 24‑carat benchmark remaining at Rs 1.47 lakh per 10 g in Delhi. Silver edged up to about USD 57.5 per ounce. Analysts attributed the narrow range to a firm US dollar and elevated Treasury yields, which limited bullion’s upside.

Investors were focused on the Federal Reserve’s policy meeting later that day. Market tools indicated roughly a 62 % probability the Fed would leave rates unchanged and a 38 % chance of a 25‑basis‑point hike. Commentators noted that the Fed’s decision and any accompanying commentary from Chair Kevin Warsh would heavily influence gold’s direction.

Renewed tensions in West Asia, including Iranian missile strikes, lifted crude‑oil prices and revived inflation concerns, providing intermittent support to gold despite the broader pressure from the strong dollar.
