Bitcoin shifts to long positions amid massive short squeeze

Bitcoin is experiencing a significant shift in market sentiment, moving from short positions to long positions as the price breaks above the 200-day moving average near $69,000. Pantera Capital portfolio manager Cosmo Jiang noted that market positioning is transitioning, supported by a recent 23% price surge that broke out of a long-term trading range.

Technical indicators show extreme momentum, with the Relative Strength Index (RSI) reaching levels between 84 and 86, marking the strongest overbought signal since November 2024. This rapid ascent triggered a massive short squeeze, resulting in over $3 billion in short positions being liquidated within a 24-hour period.

Several factors are contributing to this bullish trend, including improved regulatory expectations in the United States and increased liquidity in the bond market. Analysts are now watching the $80,000 level as a major resistance point, while $77,000 is identified as a key short-term support level to maintain the current upward structure.
