Bitcoin short-term holdings decline as market shifts to long-term investors
The proportion of Bitcoin held by short-term holders is decreasing, a trend analysts suggest may signal the end of a bear market. According to data from CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost, the share of supply held by short-term holders is shrinking significantly.
Specific breakdowns show that only 8.1% of Bitcoin is held by those who have owned it for three to six months, while only 1.2% was purchased within the last day. This shift indicates that more Bitcoin is moving into the hands of long-term holders, who are typically less reactive to price volatility and market panic.
Analysts note that this pattern is a recurring trend observed at the conclusion of previous bear markets. As short-term holders—often characterized by more frequent trading and higher sensitivity to price fluctuations—become scarcer, the market may become more resilient.
