Bitcoin steadies above $63,000 as Coinbase premium logs record 50‑day negative streak

Bitcoin held above the $63,000 level on July 5, closing near $63,094, its highest price in more than a month. The rise occurred over a quiet holiday weekend with thin trading and was supported by a softer outlook on U.S. interest rates; XRP gained about 5% as the broader market rallied.

At the same time, the Coinbase Bitcoin Premium Index has remained negative for 50 consecutive days since May 19, the longest streak since the indicator’s launch. A negative premium signals that U.S. buyers are not paying a price premium on Coinbase, indicating their absence from the market and leaving retail traders as the primary drivers of price stability.

Analysts warn that the persistent discount could thin liquidity and increase the risk of sharper moves if large‑hand buying does not return.
